10.26.09 Thanks out to Erika Taylor (house #72) for sending us this website for sex offenders in our neighborhood. Sort of scary to see how close they live to our children.

9.5.09 Block party a success! Total head count, including adults and children: 103. The kids (and adults) loved the icecream truck and fire truck. Special thanks out to everyone who donated their time and food items. Notable thanks out to 2 families (Paul & Brooke Galassi and also Dave Hoefler) who couldn't attend, but helped out tremendously by donating their items, food and labor to help set up and tear down. Nobody won the prizes by hitting the RugMedic.com truck at the end of the street with the water balloon slingshot. Pictures posted here

8.20.09 The city of Naperville granted our subdivision a permit to hold our block party this year. In the past, we've utilized a culdesac or the park. This year is going to be a bit larger, so we're blocking off the street for this one. This years block party will have an ice cream truck, Ladder #1 from the Fire Department, 3-4 bouncy houses, and of course all the food and drinks you can handle.

8.4.09 This years National Night Out was a success! We had approximately 30 couples and their kids at Kendell Park. Special thanks out to the Pilgrim subdivision and Trixie for their warm welcome.
|
8.2.09 Congrats out to Tina, Erica & George in completing the Rock N Roll Half Marathon in Chicago. Here are some pictures.

7.22.09 As everyone may know, there was a large tree branch which over hang the sidewalk located on the west side of Miledje Square park, in front of house #49. Upon many requests from the neighborhood and only 2 people hitting their head on it, the city of Naperville finally cut down the protruding limb.

7.18.09 Our first hot dog party went very smoothly. A total of 43 people (including kids) showed up. Location: In front of houses 20, 21 & 71. There were 2 bouncy houses, hot dogs, Sloppy Joes & drinks. Ice cream truck arrived at 6:30p. The Naperville Fire Department wasn't able to come due to calls. Special thanks out to my wife Erica, the Hoefler's (house #13) for bringing the grill, chairs & tables, the Barbaccia's (house #11) for bringing food, tables & chairs, the Galassi's (house #71) for the food, baggo games & Sloppy Joe's, the Wrodarczyk's (house #21) for an electrical outlet. Food, beverages, ice cream truck & bouncy houses sponsored by RugMedic.com (carpet cleaning division)

6.30.09 This years garage sale was a success. We had 22 households participate this year and the weather was sunny and 80 degrees. Special thanks out to Jean Hoefler and the kids (house #13) with the flyers, Bill Schaumann (house #7) for erecting the signs, and also Paul, Brooke & Allen (house #71) with the balloons.

6.2.09 Instead of adding a speed limit sign to our subdivision, the city of Naperville decided to add a "neighborhood speed limit" sign to 8th St off of Mills St. Apparently, Naperville code states any smaller streets which are immediately off of a major street are candidates for a "neighborhood speed limit sign". Morningside & Pearson of course are not immediately off of a major street. Oh well, we tried. :-)
|
5.5.09 Newly erected 25mph speed limit signs are now gone. Yep, they've been stolen. lol. The city of Naperville has been informed of this for the last 9 years and will be erecting permanent 25mph signs within the next 30 days.
|
5.4.09 Newly erected "friendly" 25mph speed limit signs are now in place around the neighborhood. These signs are free of charge at the City of Naperville Municipal Building.
|
4.23.09 Neighborhood garage sales signs, reminding residents to sign up for the garage sale, have been put up. MiledjeSquare residents can sign up here for the garage sale.

4.4.09 Miledge Square subdivision (along with Pilgrim Edition subdivision behind us) hosted our very first Easter Egg hunt in the park. About 13 families showed up, and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself!! Definitely a good time for both kids and parents alike. The kids enjoyed running around the park searching for eggs (or should I say, 'candy' lol). A special thanks out to Tina for organizing this fun Easter Egg Hunt for our subdivision. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
